There are many day tours to see the incredible array of bird species
in this part of Queensland Australia. From the Daintree to the
Tablelands to the edge of the outback. There's enough to overwhelm
the avid birdwatcher and inspire the beginner.
Uniquely, within an hours travel we have 8 distinct habitats
including lowland rainforest, mudflats, mangroves, saltmarsh, upland
rainforest, wetland, grassland, and the much drier savannah
woodland.
To the north is Mossman & the Daintree River. In the hinterland
is Julatten, well known to birders, the rainforest of the Great
Divide and westward to the Mitchell River to locate inland species.
This is a Birdwatcher's paradise & some endemic species may be
spotted. Birds often seen include (seasonal) plovers, herons,
kingfishers, birds of prey, finches, robins, parrots, cranes,
cockatoos, pigeons, doves, honeyeaters to name a few.
